Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. Proverbs 3:13-17
This verse reminds me that we all need wisdom and understanding in order to be successful. Without it, you’ll end up in a debt spiral, your finances out of control.
My wife and I have been very blessed in that we’ve never been out of control spenders, or had extravagant tastes, but at the same time in the recent past we haven’t had a lot of wisdom or understanding when it came to our finances. We’ve just kind of hobbled our way through, not realizing how much we were spending on trivial things. We weren’t educating ourselves, and gaining in wisdom and understanding of our finances.
We’re trying to change that now because we’ve realized that if we don’t learn a bit more about how to tell our money what to do, instead of having it just slip through our fingers, we’re going to miss out on a lot of things. We aren’t going to have that peace that the verse talks about. We aren’t going to have the riches and honor associated with making wise choices and being good stewards of our money.
So here’s to making changes in your financial life. To the pursuit of wisdom and understanding. We’re on our way. Are you?
