It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay Ecclesiastes 5:5
A bit of wisdom today from Ecclesiastes…
It’s better to not make a promise, than to make a promise and not keep it. Your word is your bond, and if you promise something you need to follow through.
It’s amazing to me how many people take out a loan, borrow on credit cards and otherwise use other people’s money, with no intention of ever paying it back (or at the least intending to but not managing their money wisely, and not being able to). To me this verse speaks to the idea that if you aren’t sure if you are able to follow through with something – don’t do it. If you can’t repay, don’t take out the loan. If you can’t follow through on a promise – it should never be made.

I’m an Ephesians girl myself, but my quiet time reading was about keeping promises and the importance of your word. And I am currently reading through Exodus and in the first few chapters there is emphasis on your words being important and to choose them wisely. And also I was reading on problogger in his comment policy he says to remember that your words are a permanent record of yourself. I think God is trying to teach me something. How about you? :)
