In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace – Ephesians 1:7
I looked out my window one evening and saw a beautiful sunset.
Gorgeous pinks and purples graced the sky for my viewing pleasure. Awesome sunsets are common in Arizona which causes me to sometimes take them for granted and not appreciate their beauty. But sometimes, like that evening, I stop what I’m doing and take a few moments to admire the painted sky.

For those who have been Christians for a long time, it can be easy to take God’s saving grace for granted. We have seen God’s grace in action enough times that it has almost become commonplace. We can fail to see to see His grace as what hymn writer John Newton called “amazing.”
Think about God’s grace for a few moments and realize how amazing that grace is. We were all sinners in the eyes of God. We had broken His commandments and by our sinful living had shaken our fists in His face. We rightly deserved His wrath and eternity in hell. Yet God in His love sent His Son to take the punishment for us. Christ shed His blood on the cross to pay for our sins and to open a way to heaven. He gave hope to the hopeless and a healing balm to the hurting. God’s grace took those poor in spirit and made us heirs to the kingdom. We deserved nothing of value, but He gave us everything.
When was the last time you thanked God for His amazing grace? When was the last time you were so overjoyed by God’s love that you couldn’t wait to share it with others?
